Requirements
  • A Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree and a Florida physician license are required.
  • Three years of experience in Family Medicine are required.
  • Graduation from an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Family Medicine Residency Program is required.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine is required.
  • A current active state and federal Drug Enforcement Administration license is required.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide physician care generally provided at a primary care facility.
  • Actively manage all aspects of patient care while on shift.
  • Supervise and direct the center’s other clinical staff, including medical assistants.
  • Collect biological specimens and process them in the laboratory for testing.
  • Ensure that all charts and medical records are accurately completed in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all clinical policies and procedures.
  • Deliver care, treatment, and referrals, and arrange referral resources for medical specialties not provided at the primary care clinic.
  • Evaluate patients through physical examinations to determine medical conditions, establish diagnoses, and propose treatment plans.
  • Maintain a high standard of medical practice and participate in training and development of the medical team.
  • Assist in medical education for patients and clinic staff.
  • Facilitate patients’ transitions within and between health care settings, including referrals, transfers, follow-up, specialty care, and discharge.
  • Participate in the development of clinic protocols and the formulary, and make recommendations on chart information forms.
  • Document each on-site or in-office procedure, prescription, consultation, and patient contact in the patient’s chart and on clinic encounter forms within 24 hours.
  • Counsel patients regarding medical and other problems that might affect their health and well-being.
  • Perform clinical procedures within the practitioner’s or specialist’s scope and skill when economically feasible.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the clinic’s medical support staff regarding patient care.
  • Supervise case assignments to nurse practitioners and physician assistants, including signing off on charts where applicable.
  • Perform other job-related duties assigned by the Chair of Family Medicine and Community Health.
