Senior Analytics Engineer

Scope:

• We are seeking an experienced Senior Analytics Engineer to join our data team and drive the design, implementation, and maintenance of our data architecture and semantic layers. This role combines deep technical expertise in data modeling with strategic thinking about how data can best serve our organization's analytical needs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with modern data stack technologies and a proven track record of building scalable, AI-ready data architectures.

Our Current Technical Environment:

• Data Architecture: Deep knowledge of dimensional modeling principles and Kimball methodology
• SQL: Expert-level SQL skills with ability to write complex queries and optimize performance
• Cloud Platforms: Extensive experience with Databricks or Snowflake (experience with both preferred)
• Semantic Layers: Strong understanding of semantic layer concepts and architectures; hands-on experience highly preferred
• Documentation: Proven ability and willingness to create and maintain technical documentation

What you’ll do:

• Data Architecture & Modeling
• Design and implement dimensional data models following Kimball methodology and best practices
• Plan, create, and execute comprehensive data architecture strategies that support both current and future analytical needs
• Build and maintain robust semantic layers that enable self-service, BI and analytics, and AI across the organization
• Ensure data architectures are optimized for AI and machine learning applications
• Technical Implementation:
• Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, data pipelines, and data transformations using Databricks notebooks and workflows
• Work extensively with Databricks platform to build scalable data solutions, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Databricks SQL
• Utilize Python for data processing, automation, and advanced analytics workflows within Databricks environments
• Implement data quality checks and monitoring systems using Databricks pipelines
• Documentation & Governance:
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, semantic layers, and architectural decisions
• Establish and enforce data governance standards and best practices
• Work directly with business stakeholders and BI developers to design data architectures that meet analytical and reporting needs
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure data architecture aligns with business requirements and technical constraints
• Strategic Planning & Execution:
• Lead cross-functional projects to deliver data solutions that drive business value
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth of the data engineering practice
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in data architecture

What we are looking for:

• Experienced 9+ years of professional with 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or related field
• Proven track record of designing and implementing data architectures at scale
• Experience planning and executing complex data projects from conception to delivery
• Strong understanding of data warehouse design patterns and best practices
• Programming: Python experience for data processing and automation
• AI/ML Architecture: Experience designing data architectures optimized for AI and machine learning workloads (significant advantage)
• Semantic Layer Tools: Hands-on experience with semantic layer tools (huge advantage) - priority on AtScale, but experience with any semantic layer tool such as Cube, MetricFlow, LookML, Tableau Semantic Layer, or PowerBI Semantic Model highly valued
• Modern Data Stack: Familiarity with additional tools in the modern data ecosystem (dbt, Fivetran, Looker, etc.)
• Industry Experience: Previous experience in [relevant industry if applicable]
• Location: India-based role with ability to work evening hours (IST) to ensure overlap with US-based teams
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English - ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and business stakeholders
• Collaboration: Experience working effectively in distributed, cross-timezone teams
