Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of related design experience is required, or a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of related design experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of microwave theory and techniques and process technologies used for monolithic microwave integrated circuit design is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience designing power amplifiers in gallium arsenide and/or gallium nitride technologies is required.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design software used for circuit and electromagnetic simulation, including Advanced Design System, High Frequency Structure Simulator, Microwave Office, and Momentum, is required.
  • The employee must be able to communicate orally and in writing and perform the listed physical functions, including using a computer keyboard and occasionally lifting or moving up to 10 pounds.
  • The employee must comply with corporate safety initiatives and abide by the company Code of Conduct.
  • Occasional overnight travel is required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop new monolithic microwave integrated circuit products through all phases of product development, from concept definition to product release.
  • Assess target-specification feasibility.
  • Design monolithic microwave integrated circuits using Advanced Design System simulation, including schematic simulation, layout, 2.5D electromagnetic simulation with Momentum, and thermal simulation.
  • Prepare design reports and conduct design reviews.
  • Validate designs by testing samples under small-signal and large-signal conditions, selecting design variants, identifying improvements, and defining Design Verification Test conditions.
  • Maintain documentation and quality by following the established monolithic microwave integrated circuit development flow and procedures.
  • Attend other engineers’ design reviews, provide coaching, and share knowledge.
  • Design customer evaluation boards.
  • Execute tasks according to schedule, manage time effectively, escalate issues promptly, and work with Project Managers to remove roadblocks and update schedules.
  • Cooperate with Marketing, Project Managers, Product Engineers, Quality and Reliability Engineers, Packaging and Assembly Engineers, Test Engineers, and other worldwide team members to support successful product releases.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of related design experience is preferred.
  • Design experience with low-noise amplifiers, mixers, switches, and similar components is desirable.
  • Familiarity with software used for printed circuit boards is desirable.

Mini-Circuits Launches Wideband Digital Step Attenuator from 0.1 to 24 GHz

Mini-Circuits launches wideband digital step attenuator from 0.1 to 24 GHz. Mini-Circuits has introduced the ZX76-24G-30-S+, a 50 ohm coaxial solid-state digital step attenuator designed for wideband RF applications spanning 0.1 to 24 GHz. Engineered for precision and flexibility, the attenuator offers programmable attenuation from 0 to 31.5 dB in 0.5 dB steps, providing fine control over signal levels across a wide frequency range. The ZX76-24G-30-S+ features a 6-bit parallel control interface that requires no external clock and supports dual (+3.3 V / -3.0 V) or single-supply operation (+3.3 V to +5.4 V). Built for durability in demanding environments, it delivers high input IP3 performance of +50 dBm, good return loss (typical 15 dB), and glitch-free attenuation transitions, making it well-suited for test instrumentation, communication infrastructure, and defense applications such as radar, EW, ECM, and SATCOM systems. The device's robust design also ensures immunity to latch-up and stable operation from 0°C to +50°C, while supporting input power levels up to +22 dBm. It operates with an insertion loss as low as 3 dB (typically) up to 13 GHz and 4.5 dB (typically) up to 24 GHz. To simplify integration, Mini-Circuits includes a CBL-5FT-MPD+ pigtail control cable, featuring stripped wire ends and a pre-mounted connector for easy interface with the attenuator's 10-pin digital control port.
