Requirements
  • Equivalent to a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), plus specified training courses mandated by the state for certification, licensure, or registration.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance, or reliable alternate transportation that allows timely travel to multiple offices per day.
  • Travel to multiple offices per day, sometimes several times per day, with planned or unplanned travel subject to change without notice.
  • Be able to respond to common inquiries from patients, staff, vendors, or other members of the business community.
  • Be able to draw valid conclusions, apply sound judgment, and make decisions under pressure.
  • Interact effectively with clinicians and owner doctors.

  • Read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedure manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and governmental regulations.

  • Maneuver through basic computer software.

Responsibilities
  • Perform functions in accordance with the applicable state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties.
  • Actively participate in the Perfect Patient Experience by focusing patients on optimal treatment while attending to their individual needs and concerns.
  • Escort patients to and from the front desk and introduce them to other team members as appropriate.
  • Communicate with the front and back office teams to ensure the orthodontist’s schedule runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, sterile, and cheerful environment.
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment and clean each operatory in accordance with applicable state infection-control guidelines.
  • Prepare patients for treatment and assist the dentist in providing efficient, quality dental treatment.
  • Complete radiographs and intraoral pictures at the clinician’s direction.
  • Prepare tray setups for dental procedures and maintain adequate supply levels in each operatory, replenishing supplies as needed.
  • Keep patients’ mouths dry and clear using suction or other devices.
  • Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral-health care as directed by the clinician.
  • Record patient charting and clinician notes in the digital patient chart.
  • Present treatment records, consents, and health histories to the clinician before treatment.
  • Maintain equipment according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Lead Dental Assistant to ensure adequate clinical supplies are available.
  • Learn to operate technology and explain or demonstrate its operation to others.
  • Participate in daily morning huddles, monthly team meetings, and other required meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable state, federal, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
