Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited ultrasound school is required.
  • Registration with ARDMS or RDCS, or eligibility to obtain registration within six months of employment, is required.
  • Strong breast and general imaging skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform technical procedures requiring independent judgment and ingenuity.
  • Use proper body mechanics.
  • Move, position, and transfer patients, independently or with assistance as needed for patient safety.
  • Perform routine diagnostic ultrasound and echocardiography examinations and procedures, including abdomen, pelvis, major vessels, and small parts such as breast, thyroid, and testicular imaging.
  • Perform Doppler studies of the carotid arteries, abdomen, pelvis, small parts, and peripheral vascular system, as well as echocardiac examinations.
  • Assist with breast biopsy procedures.
  • Perform operating-room procedures when required.
  • Assist with transesophageal echocardiography procedures.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness.
  • Communicate with physicians, patients, families, and the healthcare team in person and by telephone using appropriate customer-relations skills.
