- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Graduation from an accredited ultrasound school is required.
- Registration with ARDMS or RDCS, or eligibility to obtain registration within six months of employment, is required.
- Strong breast and general imaging skills are required.
- Perform technical procedures requiring independent judgment and ingenuity.
- Use proper body mechanics.
- Move, position, and transfer patients, independently or with assistance as needed for patient safety.
- Perform routine diagnostic ultrasound and echocardiography examinations and procedures, including abdomen, pelvis, major vessels, and small parts such as breast, thyroid, and testicular imaging.
- Perform Doppler studies of the carotid arteries, abdomen, pelvis, small parts, and peripheral vascular system, as well as echocardiac examinations.
- Assist with breast biopsy procedures.
- Perform operating-room procedures when required.
- Assist with transesophageal echocardiography procedures.
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness.
- Communicate with physicians, patients, families, and the healthcare team in person and by telephone using appropriate customer-relations skills.
