What believers are saying

  • On September 8, 2026, Bessemer co-led TEC's $450 million Series C.
  • On September 2, 2026, Bessemer led Upwind's $300 million round at $3.8 billion.
  • On August 14, 2026, Bessemer launched Tech Catalyst to source Indian AI founders.

What critics are saying

  • Upwind's $3.8 billion valuation makes Bessemer exposed to a brutal 2027 markdown.
  • TEC, Upwind, and Perceptron all need capital-intensive execution before meaningful cash returns.
  • If exits stay frozen through 2027, Bessemer's marquee 2026 marks become trapped paper gains.

What makes Bessemer Venture Partners unique

  • Bessemer has invested since 1911 and still backs seed-through-growth companies.
  • Its dedicated $250 million crypto pool targets consumer, DeFi, infrastructure, and tooling.
  • Tech Catalyst and analyst recruiting create an unusually visible founder-talent funnel.

Cognition raises $2B Series E at $48B valuation as revenue nears $900M

Cognition has raised over $2 billion in a Series E round at a $48 billion valuation. Andreessen Horowitz and Accel led the funding, with participation from Founders Fund, General Catalyst, Avenir, and a syndicate including Benchmark, Kleiner Perkins, and NVIDIA. The AI software-engineering company's run-rate revenue grew from $492 million in May 2026 to almost $900 million. Cognition attributed the increase to expanding adoption of Devin, its autonomous software-engineering agent used by NVIDIA, GE Aerospace, Citi, Mercedes-Benz, and Modal. Devin now includes Auto-Triage for incident investigation, Security Swarm for vulnerability detection, and Automations that trigger work from events in Slack, GitHub, and Linear. Founded in 2024, Cognition has opened offices in Washington, Tokyo, Singapore, London, São Paulo, and Madrid over the past year.
