Requirements
  • The candidate must have communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • The candidate must be able to read, analyze, and interpret insurance forms.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Associates must comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 as it pertains to disclosures of protected health information.
  • The candidate must obtain a favorable background-check result as required by the state.
  • The candidate must provide proof of identity and the right to work in the United States.
  • The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • The candidate must have at least one year of experience interacting with customers or patients, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • The candidate must be able to walk, sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 pounds, with strong fine motor skills and full use of the hands.
  • The candidate must have visual and auditory acuity, including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
  • The Optical Technician will deliver the Total Patient Experience while providing medical support.
  • The Optical Technician will determine patients' wants and needs and sell products and services to exceed their expectations.
  • The Optical Technician will assist patients in selecting frames based on style, color, facial and eye measurements, and optical prescriptions.
  • The Optical Technician will operate the auto-lensometer and manual lensometer.
  • The Optical Technician will educate patients and recommend lenses, lens coatings, and frames suited to their needs.
  • The Optical Technician will collect bridge, eye size, temple length, segment heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt measurements accurately.
  • The Optical Technician will dispense patient orders and repair and adjust patient frames.
  • The Optical Technician will dispense glasses and contact lens orders in E360.
  • The Optical Technician will follow all job aids and policies.
  • The Optical Technician will clean and organize frame areas and maintain frame standards.
  • The Optical Technician will follow protocols to keep frame inventory accurate.
  • The Optical Technician will perform general office duties and cleaning assigned by the manager.
  • The Optical Technician will assist with other duties in the office as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous medical office experience is preferred.
  • Previous ophthalmic experience is strongly preferred.
  • Current ABO/ABOC and NCLE certifications are preferred, but not required.
