  • A basic understanding of the following: airspace and flight operations in a tower and radar environment to include the following: arrival and departure sequencing; instrument and visual traffic, and airport movement area operations
  • Currently enrolled and working towards a degree in the Aviation program at an accredited college/university and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
  • Your GPA needs to be included on your application and resume
  • US Citizenship Requirement
  • Candidate must be able to obtain an SF-85P Public Trust clearance from the FAA customer
  • Proficient in speaking, writing, and typing in the English language
  • Physical abilities commensurate with obtaining an FAA Pilot or Air Traffic Control Certificate
Responsibilities
  • The ATC Simulator Aviation Intern will provide support to the FAA Academy's International Division. Leidos provides technical training on the concepts and principles contained in International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annexes and FAA Orders and Directives, as well as training on the automation used to support air traffic operations
  • Duties include interacting with FAA instructors and international students in air traffic procedures and phraseology via classroom and simulator instruction for air traffic controller training
  • Acts as a pilot role player for international air traffic operations in both airport control tower and radar-controlled simulated air traffic environments
  • Interacts with automated systems to simulate pilot actions in international air traffic scenarios
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency with FAA and ICAO air traffic practices
  • Experience with FAA air traffic simulators e.g., Tower 3D
  • Excellent customer service skills necessary to interact with internal, external, and international customers, as well as the ability to work in a cooperative environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; previous experience using aviation terminology in a simulated environment
