Requirements
  • An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required.
  • A current Registered Nurse license in the State of Oregon is required.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification is required within six months of hire.
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. certification is required within six months of hire.
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Intermediate certification, Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification, or equivalent continuing nursing education units are required within six months of hire.
  • Two years of Labor and Delivery, Post-Partum, or high-risk antepartum experience within the last three years is required for Labor and Delivery openings.
  • Employees must demonstrate competencies to accept regular patient care assignments in at least two areas within the Women’s & Children’s Center, including neonatal intensive care, pediatrics, labor and delivery, or post-partum.
  • Employees who complete a Hillsboro Medical Center specialty training program in neonatal intensive care or post-partum must choose a second specialty within one year and apply for the corresponding residency or fellowship program.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver quality nursing care to patients throughout the Women’s & Children’s Center, including patients requiring cardiac monitoring, according to individual needs, physician orders, hospital policy, standards of care, and nursing practice.
  • Assess patient needs, plan nursing care, and ensure the plan of care is implemented, documented, and evaluated according to the nursing process.
  • Administer and document medications and intravenous fluids safely and accurately according to hospital policy.
  • Provide developmental care.
  • Derive nursing goals from assessment data to identify expected patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with patients, partners, and the healthcare team to develop individualized goals and plans of care.
  • Provide concise, pertinent reports to the healthcare team, physicians, and clinical managers.
  • Supervise care provided by supportive staff, including technicians and certified nursing assistants.
  • Integrate the TeamBirth initiative into daily practices through patient-focused huddles throughout all phases of care.
  • Collaborate with clinical education on support programs, including the nurse residency committee and real-time education.
  • Collaborate with providers and nursing staff to improve policies such as category two management and Pitocin management.
