About the team:
We are expanding our services, and to support this growth, we are looking for a communications specialist (consultant) to join our Policy in Action (PIA) line of business. PIA provides programme and network support, technical assistance, and mutual (peer-based) learning and training services to European Union (EU) institutions, particularly the European Commission Directorate-Generals and executive agencies. Our portfolio of projects covers a range of policy areas, including employment, labour market, social inclusion and protection, education and training, and migration and asylum.
About the role:
The role will involve supporting the communications (predominantly digital communications and copy writing) for several large Green Transitions-themes projects including support for the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) Energy Technology List (ETL) known together as DESNZ ETL and EU Public Employment Services (PES), among others. The role will entail working with a wide range of internal teams and external clients to communicate the latest developments, including writing news articles, email newsletter content, case studies, FAQs, and guides to a wide variety of stakeholders.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Provide concise, accurate, compelling original copy writing support and content creation for web, newsletter, other publication material, considering SEO, target audiences and key indicators for success.
- Write, edit, and provide content for a range of projects including the delivery of several web articles, FAQs, guides, and newsletters.
- Contribute and support upcoming campaigns ensuring unified messaging across several communication channels (e.g. web, newsletter).
- Simultaneous management of content creation for different websites and newsletters whereby you will lead on developing engaging content, tracking, and reporting key metrics, targeting new stakeholders, and informing the wider team on new trends.
- Utilising innovative tools and leveraging best practices to create cutting-edge, fresh content for clients, including but not limited to AI and visual and multimedia content creation apps for text, video, audio, GIF and other formats.
- Creating and sourcing relevant multimedia (photos, videos, audio) to support content creation for web, newsletters and publications in line with project needs and direction;
- Developing and producing engaging podcast episodes, including ideation of concept notes, generation of interview questions, guest liaison, and postproduction of podcast content, ensuring alignment with overall project communication strategy and project deliverables.
- Support internal project teams and liaise with the communications team to create synergies, cross-train and provide cross-project support on a range of communication strategies and projects.
- Support the communications managers with project and ICF requests;
- Contribute to other reporting, copy writing or copy editing as needed.
What you’ll need:
- Masters degree or equivalent experience in communications/cross media, English, journalism or a related discipline. With minimum 5 years of relevant professional communications experience.
- Native-level English is required for copy writing in English.
- Track record of copy writing for digital and online campaigns including web and newsletter, social media writing is a plus.
- Strong and proven copywriting and copy-editing skills.
- Track record of crafting compelling and engaging narratives is crucial. This role involves creating stories that resonate with the audience and convey the intended message effectively.
- Strong interviewing skills are necessary to gather accurate and insightful information from various sources. Experience of event photography and videography, short video, and audio production and editing, to create compelling content adapted for various channels.
- Strong research skills to understand the target audience and tailor messages accordingly.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, including time management, multi-tasking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including interacting with multi-national and multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
