Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree with 1–2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and time-management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize in a fast-paced environment while anticipating emerging organizational needs.
  • Strong solution and system orientation, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interact professionally with multiple audiences and people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent technical skills in word processing, spreadsheet/database, and email applications, including the Google environment such as Gmail, Calendar, and Drive.
  • Ability to handle confidential or sensitive materials with discretion.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends and other flexible hours as needed, including responding to emergency needs.
Responsibilities
  • Provide operations support to the Swearer Center community of students, staff, faculty, and community partners.
  • Support Swearer Center programs and daily operations by processing financial transactions, supporting event planning, and planning logistics for staff and student travel.
  • Plan and execute center-wide annual events and monthly programming-related events.
  • Serve as a liaison with relevant internal Brown offices, including Financial Operations, Event Operations, the Office of Information Technology, and Facilities Management, as well as external constituents such as guest speakers and vendors.
  • Support building maintenance, inventory, and supply ordering.
  • Provide front-desk reception.
  • Work as a member of the operations staff to maintain and improve the Center's operational processes.
  • Provide operational support to the Office of Community Engagement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Administrative experience in an academic or higher education setting.
  • Experience processing financial transactions, including reimbursements and purchase orders.
  • Experience with event planning.
  • Experience with calendar management or executive support.
  • Experience with project management systems such as Basecamp and other IT or financial systems such as Workday.
