Requirements
  • Experience as a hands-on technician or related field, working on process automation and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems from 24VDC to 480VAC
  • Experience effectively using hand tools, multimeters, and additional testing equipment
  • Extensive experience with commissioning and startup of large systems
  • Ability to perform skilled termination of control equipment and instrumentation
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, loop drawings, P&IDs, electrical prints, and electrical schematics
  • Knowledge in troubleshooting motor controls, variable frequency drives, PLCs, and instruments
  • Working knowledge of various process instrumentation used to measure pressure, level, temperature, liquid and gas flow, temperature, etc
  • Working knowledge of control valves, dampers, and associated actuators
  • Familiarity with ladder logic or other IEC-61131-3 languages
  • Excited to work on a small, fast paced startup team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to travel extensively to South America, and be on site for extended periods
  • Must be able to pass a high-altitude work test
  • Must be capable of passing a high-altitude screening examination
  • Must be capable of passing a respirator use screening examination
  • May be required to pass a drug test, which may include marijuana, as required by certain laws and regulations
Responsibilities
  • Install, terminate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and control panels, equipment, and instrumentation
  • Support controls engineers in new installations of systems and upgrading existing systems
  • Perform system integration tasks including installation of cable support systems, wiring installed equipment and instruments, and terminate cables to the control panel
  • Calibrate and repair instruments and controls equipment, removing and replacing defective parts
  • Use complex electrical schematics and layouts to install equipment and troubleshoot systems
  • Perform basic PLC and HMI programming to support system installations and startup
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) on electrical equipment and instruments
  • Perform calibration of instrumentation on site, to ensure hardware is fully calibrated and reading correctly on the PLC/DCS
  • Support commissioning and startup of various systems
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA safety requirements and/or South American equivalents
