Job Summary:
The Vice President of Engineering, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, is a strategic leader responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of products and driving exceptional delivery outcomes. This role requires close collaboration with Product Management, Customer Experience, and Data Science teams to ensure alignment and innovation.
The ideal candidate has a proven history of delivering complex projects on time, building and mentoring high-performing agile teams, and leading across geographies, time zones, and cross-functional domains.
The Vice President of Engineering demonstrates strong leadership in building high-performing teams, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and driving operational excellence for high-velocity product delivery across a diverse portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
- Hiring, mentoring, and empowering engineering managers to drive team performance and foster professional growth.
- Cultivating a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering function.
- Overseeing the development and maintenance of a diverse product portfolio, ensuring alignment with business and financial objectives.
- Collaborating with Product Management to define roadmaps and deliver innovative, high-quality solutions.
- Partnering with the Data Science team to integrate advanced analytics and machine learning, enhancing product functionality and user experience.
- Leading distributed teams across geographies and time zones, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
- Optimizing resource utilization across portfolio and delivery efficiency through effective offshore development center strategies.
- Establishing and enforcing best practices in software development, ensuring products are scalable, reliable, and secure.
- Tracking progress through key performance indicators (KPIs) and driving continuous improvement.
- Presenting engineering roadmaps, outcomes, and metrics to executive leadership.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing diverse teams.
Proven experience in managing a portfolio of products and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
Strong collaboration skills with a solid understanding of data-driven product development.
Demonstrated ability to manage change and coordinate teams across multiple geographies and time zones, including experience with offshore development centers.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in data-driven B2B SaaS product development at scale.
Expertise in Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Broad Knowledge of development, deployment, data, and platform tech stacks, cloud platforms, and modern software architectures.
- Ability to manage established and emerging products at differing levels of code maturity.
- Preference for candidates who live in Eastern or Central Timezones. Candidates who live in Pacific Timezones must be open to working East Coast hours.

Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $ 266,400 - $399,600, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for an annual corporate bonus of 30%. If you are hired at Payscale, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider any internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).
