Requirements
  • An Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience and education.
  • No experience is required.
  • A qualifying state or professional laboratory license or certification is required, including an applicable Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technician, Blood Bank Technologist, Chemistry Technologist, Hematology Technologist, Microbiology Technologist, Molecular Biology Technologist, or related credential listed for the applicable state of work location.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a full range of laboratory tests, from simple blood tests to complex tests.
  • Interpret test reports and communicate findings to physicians.
  • Escalate unusual, critical, or abnormal results.
  • Operate complex electronic equipment, computers, and precision instruments.
  • Maintain equipment and reagents by performing established preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Assist providers in choosing appropriate laboratory tests.
  • Perform and evaluate quality control procedures.
  • Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot instruments.
  • Assist with the proper storage of hazardous materials.
  • Review current literature and attend meetings and seminars to stay informed of developments in the field.
  • Assist in the laboratory proficiency testing program.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
