Requirements
  • High school education, GED, or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance; a valid driver's license may be required based on clinic location.
  • Ability to travel to other clinics and between offices as assigned.
  • Ability to use and understand Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, standard office equipment, electronic medical records systems, and related office technology.
  • Ability to perform a basic visual acuity assessment and an intraocular pressure test with a Tonopen unit.
  • Ability to administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications as directed.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, staff, vendors, and community members; apply sound judgment; interpret policies and procedures; multitask; prioritize work; and make timely, accurate decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with state, federal, and other applicable regulations, including OSHA, workers' compensation, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, Department of Labor requirements, and company policies.
Responsibilities
  • Welcome, greet, and check in and check out patients.
  • Collect and update patient demographic, personal, insurance, ocular health, medical history, medication, and chief complaint information.
  • Perform route slip and day sheet processes and procedures.
  • Scan and upload driver's licenses, insurance cards, demographic forms, HIPAA acknowledgment forms, charts, and other records into the electronic medical records system.
  • Navigate and schedule patients in the electronic medical records system.
  • Submit authorizations and create patient tasks.
  • Fax, scan, and create referral letters for primary care physicians or referring doctors.
  • Contact patients to confirm or update appointments.
  • Perform backup protocols for processing patients during system outages.
  • Prepare patients for treatment and assist doctors.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly waiting area.
  • Receive supply deliveries and route them to appropriate staff.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with company policies.
  • Keep the direct supervisor informed of work progress, timetables, and issues.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

  • Experience in a medical office or customer service.
