Requirements
  • Solid understanding of financial modeling and forecasting techniques, including building robust models, predicting future performance, developing scenarios, stress-testing assumptions, and providing insights for strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to translate complex data into executive presentations.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles or governmental accounting standards and statement, finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources.
  • Ability to present complex finance-related information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to synthesize and integrate highly complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Interpersonal and consulting skills at all organizational levels.

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with 10 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to three years of accounting experience and three to five years of financial planning and analysis experience.
  • Ability to provide proof of work authorization in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Support the School of Medicine's annual budgeting process, quarterly financial forecasts, financial plan variance analysis, and special projects, including financial systems transformations supporting UCI Medical Center.
  • Analyze actual-versus-plan reporting, explain underlying drivers, track key clinical operational metrics, and develop assumptions to model forward-looking financial reports.
  • Provide consulting and strategic support to School of Medicine clinical departments and senior leadership to understand future performance, assess risks, and align resources with strategic goals.
  • Manage relationships with School of Medicine departments and other stakeholders through strategic planning analysis of trends, scenario planning, and actionable insights.
  • Support school-wide analyses and financial planning and reporting activities, including developing reports for the campus, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning.
  • Support quarterly reporting publications that consolidate the School of Medicine's financial performance and key performance indicators.
  • Lead projects of critical importance to the School of Medicine.
  • Analyze complex clinical operations with organization-wide impact despite limited precedent and variable factors.
  • Select assumptions using professional judgment, follow healthcare trends, and serve as a subject matter expert for clinical departments' complex financial performance.
  • Develop and recommend new metrics, reporting, and processes to improve decision-support value and process efficiency.
Desired Qualifications
  • Healthcare industry experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Master of Business Administration preferred, with a focus on Finance, Accounting, Business, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience or training.
  • Inactive Certified Public Accountant preferred.
