  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience driving & operating heavy machinery in a construction / mining environment
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical tasks and tooling
  • Well organized & punctual with a keen eye for detail
  • Experienced with implementing and enforcing safety procedures
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly speaking & writing English
  • Proficient computer skills, experienced in writing & maintaining documentation
Responsibilities
  • Liaising with Site Management & Production Supervisors to coordinate SafeAI’s site activities
  • Ensuring compliance with Site, Regional & Federal regulations such as CFR Title 30
  • Manually operating heavy equipment such as Haul Trucks, Compact Loaders & Dozers
  • Training new equipment operators and supervising site personnel
  • Supporting the Software Quality Assurance team in their day to day testing of autonomous vehicles
  • Acting as a safety driver on autonomous assignments, making sound judgment calls on when to override
  • Walking the work site, performing risk assessments & taking action as needed
  • Keeping the work site & vehicles, clean, tidy and well maintained
  • Collecting data and reporting on KPIs related to ‘production’ movement of materials
  • Maintaining storage areas in a well organized manner, ensuring compliance with MSHA
  • Hosting customers & visitors for demonstrations of autonomous technology
  • Performing daily vehicle inspections & filling out defect reports when required
  • Maintaining the workshop area, ensuring that only those with proper training are using tools
  • Working with QA to set and enforce the site schedule for all visitors
  • Enforcing Lock-out/Tag-out procedures & regularly inspecting safety equipment
  • Communicating closely with QA / Development engineers to understand intended autonomous functionality and test goals
  • Performing weekly and job-specific Job Hazard Analysis, sharing with site as appropriate
  • Ensuring that vehicles are fuelled and ready to operate
  • Championing a safety-first approach at all times
  • Implementing & maintaining all signage & communications relating to autonomous operations
  • Communicating vehicle movements & intentions using 2-way radio
  • Ensuring that vehicles are maintained according to schedule
  • Liaising on site with 3rd parties such as mechanics & maintenance personnel
  • Keeping vehicle interiors & exteriors clean (where practical)
  • Maintaining training records
