  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Typing speed of approximately 30 words per minute or the ability to successfully demonstrate competent use of the practice management computer system.
  • Knowledge of ICD and CPT.
  • Two years of experience in a medical office environment.
Responsibilities
  • Adhere to and assure compliance with Orlando Health and department-specific policies, procedures, value statements, and Commitment to Excellence standards.
  • Handle multiple simultaneous tasks, answer the telephone, take messages, and file laboratory reports, medical records, and other information according to practice policies and procedures.
  • Perform word processing and spreadsheet data entry.
  • Perform charge entry and cash handling.
  • Act as a liaison between the physician, patient, and insurance companies, including obtaining referrals and authorizations.
  • Maintain reasonably regular and punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintain compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Indicator activities as assigned.
  • Demonstrate awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards.
  • Use supplies efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized office.
  • Act as a liaison to assist the office billing service as requested.
