Requirements

Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineer, Aerospace, or related
Detailed knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Conjugate Heat Transfer
Deep understanding of complex assemblies and proven ability to produce high fidelity results
Materials and Manufacturing process knowledge
Ability to own projects and be an independent self starter
Strong technical documentation and communication of technical information
Experience with ANSYS CFD tools including Workbench, Fluent, SpaceClaim, and Icepak
Physical Testing and correlation
Understanding of applicable environmental design requirements

Responsibilities

Work within the Hardware Product Engineering group collaborating on requirements, design optimization, and fielding of complex hardware, specifically as it relates to analysis
Verify hardware designs by utilizing CFD models using ANSYS simulation software
Perform CFD analysis on various load cases assessing thermal design performance of sensors and computers
Complete a wide breadth of simulations from vehicle level models down to chip level design
Baseline current hardware designs and iterate until they meet the criteria
Collaborate on multidisciplinary project teams balancing the numerous constraints on hardware designs
Document analysis results and provide the project team with direction
Coordinate and perform validation tests along with the reliability team correlating to simulation results
Work flexibly across the whole product development cycle with quick directional guidance as well as high fidelity rigorous simulation

Desired Qualifications

Multiphysics simulation experience with ANSYS (FEA, FSI, Electromagnetics)
Experience with electronics reliability and automotive industry
Experience with thermal testing

We’re searching for a Thermal/Airflow Analyst to join Aurora’s CAE team. The CAE team is responsible for leading the thermal and aerodynamic design for every module in the Aurora Driver.

In this role, you will

Required Qualifications

The base salary range for this position is $156,000 - $234,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
