- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required.

- Knowledge of MDS regulations in a residential health care facility is required.

- Strong documentation and auditing skills are required.
- Knowledge of general, rehabilitative, and restorative nursing and medical practices and procedures is required.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards of care governing long-term care is required.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills are required.
- Understanding of long-term-care principles, resident assessment, care planning, and resident outcomes is required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills are required.
- Understanding of cost-effective, quality-efficient care is required.
- Knowledge of resident standards and needs, regulatory codes, personnel and administrative policies, and departmental policies and procedures is required.
- CPR certification is required.
- BLS/AED training from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required; online programs are not accepted.
- Recent supervision competence is required.
- A minimum of two years of long-term-care experience is required.
- Oversee all residents' care plans and goals.
- Complete accurate mandatory state assessments.
- Create and distribute monthly care-plan calendars to the interdisciplinary team in a timely manner.
- Participate in family meetings with residents and the interdisciplinary team to review resident problems, diagnoses, and current condition.
- Maintain and update care plans and assessments as required.
- Monitor and audit clinical records to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Inform the Director of Nursing of persistent issues related to noncompliant documentation.
- Supervise resident care throughout the facility.
- Render care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assess plans and evaluate services rendered.
