Requirements
- You have a completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in telecommunications, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- You have more than two years of practical experience in network architecture, Wi-Fi systems, or mobile device management, ideally in railway vehicles or a comparably complex technical environment.
- You have demonstrated problem-solving skills and experience troubleshooting complex network systems under time pressure.
- You take ownership, independently bring topics to completion, and confidently lead cross-functional initiatives with people from different teams and disciplines.
- You communicate clearly and persuasively with technical experts and non-technical stakeholders while maintaining precision.
- You have fluent German and English language skills.
- Experience with suppliers of railway vehicle systems and familiarity with the contractual, technical, and regulatory environment of the railway industry are advantageous.
Responsibilities
- You own FlixTrain's entire onboard technology ecosystem, including Wi-Fi, networks, onboard units, and mobile devices.
- You serve as the central technical contact for all onboard systems, assess specifications, weigh trade-offs, and make well-founded decisions.
- You continuously monitor the performance of onboard technology, identify problems early, and drive improvements.
- You independently lead cross-functional projects involving connectivity, network performance, and the integration of mobile devices into the vehicle fleet.
- You define technical specifications and network architectures that are ambitious, feasible, and provide seamless interfaces with the vehicle fleet.
- You develop test scenarios and functional validations, particularly at the critical interface with customers and certification bodies, to ensure solutions work in live operations.
- You monitor new technologies such as 5G, Internet of Things, and Starlink and translate findings into concrete recommendations for FlixTrain's technology roadmap.
