Requirements
  • Demonstrable commitment to chaplaincy ministry, student ministry, and multi-faith work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a small team of paid staff and a larger team of professional honorary chaplains and volunteers, many of whom are leaders in local faith or belief communities.
  • Qualities of leadership in pastoral, ceremonial, teaching, and facilitating capacities.
  • Confidence and breadth of vision to operate university-wide.
Responsibilities
  • Support and advise students and staff with emotional, spiritual, and social issues and concerns.
  • Work with multi-faith and belief societies in collaboration with paid staff and honorary unpaid professionals.
  • Lead or contribute to religious services, ceremonies, memorials, and rituals for the entire University community.
  • Respond with professional autonomy to crisis and emergency situations, such as sudden student deaths or hospitalisation, providing support for family and friends and ensuring pastoral requirements of University protocols are met.
  • Develop chaplaincy provision, especially quiet and prayer rooms, away from the Chaplaincy Centre.
Desired Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills in person-to-person, group, and large-gathering settings, including conducting public services, ceremonies, and memorial events.
