Responsibilities
  • Explain the X-ray procedure to patients.
  • Prepare patients for the procedure and position them for the best possible outcome.
  • Greet patients in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Produce quality radiographs to assist in the diagnosis of illnesses.
  • Verify that the correct body part is examined.
  • Align the patient and equipment to obtain the best possible position.
  • Ensure that the correct views are included in each exam.
  • Educate patients regarding the procedure.
  • Provide patients with copies of the images upon request.
  • Confirm that appropriate codes are used for billing.
  • Ensure that images are in the PACS system.
  • Maintain quantity and quality control checks to assure the X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies.
  • Clean and maintain radiographic equipment and make minor adjustments, including determining repairs needed to the equipment.
  • Protect patients and other personnel from radiation hazards.
  • Travel to other Specialty Orthopedic Group clinics as needed for coverage.
