Requirements
  • Three to five years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
  • A proven track record designing mass-market consumer products that shipped at high volume.
  • Strong design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly discipline, with the ability to balance cost, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Deep experience designing plastic parts for injection molding, including wall thickness, draft, ribbing, bosses, and living hinges.
  • Experience manufacturing consumer products in Asia, with direct interaction with contract manufacturers and vendors.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally to support tooling, first-article inspection, and production ramp.
  • Ability to perform validation testing.
  • Highly proficient with computer-aided design tools including OnShape, Fusion, and SolidWorks.
  • Mechanical design focus with good electrical and software knowledge.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to collaborate with different disciplines, work independently with minimal supervision, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to communicate onsite and remotely through email, phone, and social media.
Responsibilities
  • Help build a product roadmap for current and future products.
  • Create three-dimensional computer-aided design models of new products using OnShape, Fusion, and SolidWorks.
  • Determine the best manufacturing methods for various components.
  • Perform engineering calculations for product development.
  • Perform dimensional tolerance analysis and stack-up analysis to determine tolerance ranges.
  • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles to drawings for components and assemblies.
  • Design fixtures for product testing, calibration, and quality assurance.
  • Maintain a public-facing computer-aided design model library.
  • Create customer-facing product drawings.
  • Supply marketing and customer success teams with information and materials.
  • Create rough-draft build guide instructions.
  • Develop and perform testing on new and existing products.
  • Program and wire FTC and FRC robots to enable testing.
  • Operate computer numerical control equipment and powered manufacturing equipment, including mills, lathes, and saws.
  • Use hand tools for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Represent REV Robotics at various events.
