Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Payroll/Business or related fields
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification
  • Minimum 7 years' experience processing payroll
  • Experience in US and CAD payroll practices including multi-state processing
  • Solid understanding of payroll processes and relevant legislation, source deduction and government remittance procedures (USA and CAD)
  • Advanced Excel skills are required
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-changing and dynamic environment with evolving systems and procedures
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and detailed-oriented with the ability to prioritize and deliver results independently
Responsibilities
  • Coach the Payroll Specialists and provide guidance
  • Review payroll inputs for accuracy and ensure documentation is received and approved
  • Maintain and develop payroll documentation for Canadian and US payroll processes
  • Process off-cycles for various payouts and benefits contributions
  • Oversee contributions uploaded to benefit providers' portals
  • Review and update payroll system configurations and integrations
  • Manage payroll tax accounts and resolve tax discrepancies
  • Record and review payroll journal entries and update GL mapping
  • Establish and communicate payroll schedules and deadlines
  • Generate payroll reports as needed
  • Assist with audits and future payroll system implementations
