About the Role

Safety is Nuro’s top priority. The Triage Tools team develops applications to analyze and score incorrect behavior from Nuro’s autonomous driving software. Our applications empower a team of hundreds of operations specialists to assess the root cause, severity, and realism of issues identified in the real world and in simulation. We generate metrics that inform autonomy teams’ roadmaps and help decide when it’s safe to expand the scope of Nuro’s deployments.

As the Technical Lead, you’ll lead a team to build world-class operations tools that accelerate autonomy development.

About the Work

• Build and lead a team that understands the autonomy / ML development process & solves problems using a combination of automated and manual processes.
• Define the technical roadmap for autonomy system validation with human triage, in collaboration with the Software Operations, Autonomy, and Systems/Safety teams.
• Develop applications that empower operations specialists to triage large volumes of autonomous driving logs with speed and accuracy.
• Collaborate with operations teams (both in-house and outsourced) to understand operation specialists’ needs and deliver easy-to-use products.

Requirements

• You have 6+ years of software development experience in a language such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, or C++.
• You have led a team of engineers, formally or informally.
• You collaborate effectively with colleagues from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds. You feel comfortable navigating situations with many stakeholders and requirements to consider.
• You have aspirations to grow into a people manager.

Nice to Have

• Past experience developing internal tools for autonomous driving, data annotation, crowdsourcing, content moderation, or trust & safety.
