Spreedly has launched agentic commerce as a live channel within its open payments platform, enabling merchants to process AI agent-initiated transactions over existing payment infrastructure. The Durham-based company allows agent-driven transactions to flow through current payment service provider relationships whilst merchants retain control as the merchant of record. Enterprise clients including Priceline are already testing agent-driven payment flows. Spreedly's smart vaulting technology enables consumers to transact without re-entering card details whilst merchants maintain control over spend limits, token enforcement and expiration rules. The company is developing support for emerging protocols including UCP and ACP, with an initial release planned for later this quarter.
