Requirements
  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant required
  • For Nurse Practitioner track, Master's degree in acute care, adult or family Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission
  • Massachusetts Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license required
  • Experience as a licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner required
  • Availability to work a minimum of 2 shifts per month
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the palliative care attending physician to evaluate new and follow-up consults at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital
  • Participate in daily patient rounds to monitor patient care and formulate treatment plans in collaboration with the palliative care attending
  • Write initial consult and follow-up progress notes
  • Follow through on team recommendations for patient management in partnership with nursing staff
  • Conduct and participate in family meetings and multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
  • Order and interpret appropriate laboratory testing and other special examinations as requested
  • Serve as a resource to the Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital care teams for patient care issues and for Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital nursing in the development and teaching of palliative nursing practice
  • Prepare succinct and accurate sign-out to facilitate the smooth transition of patient care
  • Work collaboratively and function as an efficient member of the Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital palliative care division
  • Assist in the coordination of care for patients with the primary care teams and other sub-specialists involved in the care of patients
  • Lead serious illness and end of life discussions
  • Lead conversations around goals of care decision making
  • Provide education to patients and families
  • Document in the medical record as appropriate and communicate observations/findings with attending physicians
  • Monitor environment of care and comply with regulatory agency standards
  • Ensure that his or her clinical practice is consistent with physician assistant and or advanced practice registered nurse policies, procedures and standards

MGB Home Care clinicians to picket Mass General over stalled contract talks after year of bargaining

Approximately 450 clinicians at Mass General Brigham Home Care, represented by the Massachusetts Nurses Association, will hold an informational picket on 24 March outside Massachusetts General Hospital. The clinicians are seeking their first union contract after more than 20 bargaining sessions since March 2025. The bargaining unit includes registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech language pathologists, social workers and dieticians who voted to join the MNA in June 2024. They are demanding reasonable caseload limits, clear productivity standards, competitive wages and recruitment protections. MGB reported a $59.2 million operating gain in the year ending September 2025, with CEO Dr Anne Klibanski's compensation rising 40% to $8.4 million in 2024. The picket is scheduled for 15:30 to 17:00 and is not a strike.
