Requirements
  • Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
  • Five years’ related experience in the management or administration of a physician practice or hospital outpatient department.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with RIDOH, Joint Commission, HIPAA, ACGME and other regulatory bodies and standards.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the daily operational activities required for effective functioning of the patient component of the Cardiac Surgery and Structural Heart Clinic.
  • Provides leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the patient care delivery model.
  • Acts as a liaison between the hospital, Cardiac Surgery and Structural Heart Clinic, and other aspects of the Cardiovascular Institute.
  • Performs all follow up support to patients, physicians and APPs.
  • Works with the Medical Directors and CVI leadership to develop, implement and track relevant quality outcome and patient satisfaction measures.
  • Directly manages ambulatory RNs within the practice to ensure clinical quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborates as a skilled communicator, working among multiple departments simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates ability to be highly organized with foresight for prioritization and action using project management tools.
  • Ensures compliance and achievement of Hospital wide Quality Improvement Plan. Works with the Medical Directors to regularly update and identify appropriate quality improvement metrics.
  • Oversees ongoing quality assurance activities by collecting, measuring, and analyzing statistical data, collects and reports outcomes (internal/external) including but not limited to length of stay, patient satisfaction, operational and functional measures and others as requested.
  • Manages and directs community outreach and awareness efforts. Develop and oversees outreach initiatives including the continuing education activities for health professionals.
  • In collaboration with MD and APP conducts assessment of patient needs by evaluating/interviewing all new /returning patients. Triages patients to appropriate care resources (includes direct contact and telephone encounters).
  • Reviews patient history and other supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum care.
  • Organizes care conferences with the multi-disciplinary staff during the screening process and promotes a team approach to the patient program.
  • Effectively explains and educates patients and/or family members about the procedures. Teaches based upon assessment, expressed need from patient and/or family or the initiation of new treatment.
  • Communicates the plan of care and other pertinent information to/from other healthcare providers.
  • Participates in the development of policies, procedures, and standards of patient care.
  • Participates in developing and maintaining specific patient care plans, clinical pathways, and protocols.
  • Helps to coordinate daily operational activities required for effective functioning of the Cardiac Surgery and Structural Heart Clinic.
  • Assists Clinical and Practice Managers with interviews of subordinate staff; provides guidance and counsel to subordinate staff; offers feedback for periodic performance evaluations; recommends personnel action to include termination; helps managers develop standards for subordinate staff performance.
  • Works collaboratively with staff, peers and Professional Practice Development staff including clinical leaders and specialists to continually update existing standards of care and ensure that educational needs are met. Participate in orientation of new employees.
  • Collaborates with the administrative coordinators in scheduling and insurance clearance.
  • Collaborates with CVI Leadership for the development of capital and operational budgets with attention focused on ability to meet patient treatment needs. Participates in administrative meetings regarding the structural heart program operational budget.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
