Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
This position is located ONSITE in Orlando, Florida
- Support students in the identification of their individual learning needs.
- Provide and maintain consistent lab learning experience for students and staff.
- Lead and develop a team of highly engaged learning lab instructors and simulation technicians.
- Incorporate student and self as an integral part of the nursing team in the provision of safe patient care when teaching in a simulated environment.
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment; i.e., complies with college of health and safety policies, practices, and programs in keeping with occupational health & safety legislation and regulation.
- Models professional standards, including customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, attendance, and consistency with the Leavitt School of Health mission, vision and philosophy.
- Performs remediation with students in skills area as needed.
- Works closely with college staff to appropriately integrate lab operations, obtain maximum utilization for the most efficient expenditure, and to moderate student costs.
- Assist and support the Senior Supervisor, Lab Academics to address content gaps in the lab curriculum.
- Develop and maintain lab relationships to ensure high quality lab experiences for students and continued growth of the pre-licensure program.
- Works with other state supervisors and Senior Supervisor, Lab Academics to update and develop experiential learning policies and procedures.
- Provides orientation and substantial first cohort support to new Learning Lab Instructors and Simulation Technicians during onboarding to the WGU model and standards for lab instruction.
- Facilitate and maintain a respectful and professional work environment incorporating active learning, reflective thinking, and a confidential debriefing process.
- Integrate evidence-based tools and measurements to evaluate student learning.
- Participate in identifying potential lab sites and collaborate on site contracting discussions.
- Assist and support SDON and Senior Supervisor, Lab Academics in identifying additional lab sites for skills and high-fidelity simulation for general cohorts and specialty lab needs (such as Pediatrics and Women’s Health).
- Manage lab partner sites to foster effective relationships under the guidance of the State Director of Nursing and Senior Supervisor, Lab Academics.
- Serve as a role model for WGU adjunct faculty in communicating and demonstrating high professional practice and communication standards between WGU staff, volunteers, adjunct faculty, and members of the larger community.
- Support quality improvement measurements related to faculty and student satisfaction.
- Review all lab student feedback from post lab surveys and raises concerns or issues necessary to improve lab experience quality.
- Ongoing evaluation of lab faculty and staff to maintain consistency and quality of lab and simulation consistent with WGU standards.
- Collaboration with the scheduling team which includes attending forecasting meetings, providing scheduling support, and scheduling labs and students as required by your state(s).
- Any other duties as appropriately assigned or required (Lab operations responsibilities vary depending on whether the site is WGU-operated or rented from a hospital or separate school of nursing).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications: This position is located ONSITE in Orlando, Florida
Minimum Qualifications:
·MSN in Nursing Education or Nursing Administration
·One (1) year of basic experience in a nursing lab
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends to support lab instructional needs.
- Requires an active and unencumbered (will be verified) RN License in the State of the lab location.
Preferred Qualifications:
·One (1) year experience in high-fidelity simulation
·Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator® (CHSE®) certification
·Direct patient care experience within the last 5 years
Working Conditions:
- This is an Onsite/in-office only role.
- Variable hours Monday through Friday.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:
Pay Range: $73,100.00 - $120,600.00
