Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a related medical or scientific discipline, or an associate degree or equivalent technical training in a related medical, scientific, or technical discipline and two years of journey-level work experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of laboratory facilities, methods, equipment, materials, laboratory safety practices, and human subjects research.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment as required.
  • Ability to perform the stated physical functions, including lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds, maintaining corrected 20/40 vision and hearing acuity, and qualifying medically for respirator use.
Responsibilities
  • Perform complex laboratory tests and molecular laboratory procedures to support approved clinical trials.
  • Procure, process, bank, and ship study participant samples according to clinical trial documents.
  • Perform complex procedures required by approved protocols.
  • Enter data accurately and promptly and maintain sample database and clinical-trial laboratory records.
  • Respond to clinical-trial study team inquiries and requests for information about processing procedures and records.
  • Perform sample processing, testing, and shipping for SCTR Research Nexus Laboratory clinical research.
  • Prepare and maintain procedure records to facilitate investigator reporting and the NIH annual report.
  • Review and report data and document and report atypical findings to principal investigators, study teams, sponsors, and monitors.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety standards and maintain laboratory organization and supply inventory.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and protocol instructions for regulatory compliance.
  • Perform mathematical calculations for laboratory methodology, including reagent preparation and dilutions.
  • Perform laboratory procedures requiring aseptic technique or special handling methods.
  • Assist in performing qualitative and quantitative tests.
  • Provide cross-coverage for the COVID-19 biorepository, including specimen processing, documentation, and release to approved investigators.
  • Train and instruct new employees in laboratory procedures and methods.
