Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a casualty insurance environment is required, including insurance defense or coverage consultation work at a law firm.
  • Experience analyzing, interpreting, and developing coverage language is required.
  • The candidate must be able to create, build, and develop productive relationships with insurance producers, agencies, internal colleagues, and other departments.
  • The candidate must have analytical, negotiation, marketing, and sales skills.
  • The candidate must have listening, speaking, writing, and presentation skills.
  • The candidate must meet work deadlines and maintain effective desk-management practices.
  • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel up to 10%.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development of new insurance products, including drafting coverage language and providing creative coverage solutions for the niche industry served by Medmarc.
  • Develop a strategic vision for Medmarc’s coverage offering, including advising on marketplace coverage needs and strategies for growing new product lines profitably.
  • Manage the planning, development, drafting, implementation, and introduction of new and revised insurance products, including leading in-house subject matter experts and outside counsel.
  • Develop policy language for new and revised product offerings.
  • Advise on alternative coverage solutions in the context of current legal and competitive environments.
  • Seek input from key stakeholders, including Medmarc customers, on the content of Medmarc forms.
  • Prepare communications to leadership regarding form development and management.
  • Coordinate with business units outside Medmarc and within ProAssurance that are working on new product initiatives.
  • Provide day-to-day coverage analysis and consultation to support underwriting and account-management efforts.
  • Consult on and interpret coverage language.
  • Monitor and report on the marketplace, including analyzing competitors’ product offerings and creating side-by-side analyses of competitor policies.
  • Consult with Underwriting on customized coverage terms for specific accounts.
  • Develop and recommend proposed language for coverage endorsements.
  • Respond to internal and external questions about Medmarc’s coverage terms.
  • Draft customer communications related to coverage independently or in coordination with Marketing and Legal.
  • Advise on underwriting rules describing the use of insurance forms and endorsements.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on coverage forms and policy language for internal and external audiences.
  • Create educational materials about coverage for new employee onboarding and continuing education initiatives.
  • Create coverage guides and references to support the underwriting process.
  • Coordinate with the Legal Department and the functional area responsible for state filings to ensure regulatory compliance and good market conduct.
  • Prepare supporting documentation, product comparisons, explanatory memorandums, and disclosures for regulatory filings.
  • Assist with timely responses to form-related questions from state insurance departments during the filing process.
Desired Qualifications
  • A juris doctor (JD) is strongly preferred.
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, AIC, or ARM are highly desired.

TDC Group Acquires ProAssurance in 2026

AM Best has affirmed the ratings for The Doctors Company Insurance Group (TDC Group) following its planned acquisition of ProAssurance (PRA), announced on March 19, 2025. TDC Group retains its A (Excellent) Financial Strength Rating and 'a+' Long-Term Issuer Credit Ratings with a stable outlook. The acquisition, combining the second and fourth-largest medical professional liability insurers in the U.S., is expected to close in the first half of 2026, pending regulatory approval. ProAssurance will become 100% owned by TDC Group.
