Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operation and long-term strategic planning of the Guest Services department.
  • Assist the Director of Rooms with all aspects of the department and ensure service standards are followed.
  • Serve as head of department for Concierge, Bellman, and Doorman operations.
  • Serve as the Forbes trainer for the Front Office department.
  • Manage operations and make decisions in the absence of senior leadership.
  • Provide hands-on support for Front Desk, Security, Reservations, Guest Services, and Food and Beverage operations as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the Front Office and surrounding Lobby, Concierge, Front Desk, and Front Drive areas.
  • Provide managerial support for Front Desk and Guest Services daily operations when department managers are absent.
  • Complete People and Culture responsibilities, including performance feedback, recognition programs, employee satisfaction action plans, payroll, scheduling, standard operating procedure creation, training, and onboarding.
  • Manage staffing levels according to business levels and collective bargaining agreement contracts.
  • Greet, welcome, and farewell guests and colleagues professionally.
  • Conduct scheduled departmental meetings and pre-shift briefings.
  • Balance operational, administrative, and colleague needs.
  • Identify Guest Services team training needs and create action plans to develop team skills.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of operational items in storage.
  • Assist guests with requests and provide helpful information.
  • Resolve guest complaints and concerns with timely, tailored solutions.
  • Handle guest concerns, including logging issues and notifying the appropriate departments.
  • Assist guests with comments, questions, and concerns during their stay.
  • Recommend activities and restaurants.
  • Assist with luggage and transportation inquiries.
  • Enroll guests in the Accor Live Limitless loyalty program and update guest profiles when applicable.
  • Liaise with other departments regarding special guest requirements.
  • Be present at the Reception desk whenever possible.
  • Coordinate arrivals and departures, monitor waiting times, and keep guests informed and comfortable.
  • Conduct shift handovers with relieving staff and communicate special requirements or problems.
  • Use hotel technology and communication platforms to support hotel operations and guest satisfaction.
  • Inform Security of unusual disturbances.
  • Maintain a safe, hazard-free, and organized work environment.
  • Complete assignments requested by hotel management.
  • Oversee daily tasks performed by the Guest Services team to ensure accuracy, completion, and service flow.
  • Assist with guest and employee issues and questions.
  • Lead Guest Services and ensure guest and employee issues are resolved satisfactorily.
  • Provide employee motivation and support.
  • Onboard and train new employees.
  • Monitor, document, and notify the Director of Rooms about concerns or issues affecting operations and department goals.
Desired Qualifications
  • A university degree or college diploma in Hotel Management is preferred.
  • Opera property management system experience is an asset.
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset.
