Requirements
  • CEAB-accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • 15 years of experience
  • Relevant AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) firm experience
  • Professional Engineer registration in good standing
Responsibilities
  • Directs and executes the electrical systems design and engineering for advanced and complex projects in conformance with code requirements and in coordination with other design disciplines.
  • Works closely with other architects, engineers and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible and complete design.
  • Coordinates with construction trade partners, vendors and manufacturers.
  • Develops narratives, reports and construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on large projects of advanced complexity with no oversight.
  • Provides lead and advanced support for construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development and construction progress reports.
  • Attends professional development activities.
  • Utilizes various platforms to execute work, such as Microsoft Office products and available BIM software.
  • Interfaces with client and external partners.
  • Plans and directs work and manages a project budget from an electrical design perspective on small, medium and large complex projects.
  • Identifies and resolves advanced or complex non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.
  • Develops advanced internal electrical design and engineering training presentations.
  • Develops construction progress reports.
  • Conducts quality checking of documents for complex projects (e.g., technical verification of design calculations, documentation, design approaches) and drives overall project quality.
  • Provides mentorship to less experienced Electrical Engineers and/or Designers.
  • Leads systems design programming and master planning on advanced projects with no support.
  • Works with a Project Manager on proposal development, design task identification, man-hour planning and project scheduling for the electrical discipline scope of work on intermediate level projects.
  • Works on one or more projects simultaneously as directed by a Supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Relevant design firm experience
  • Basic knowledge and experience using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Advanced knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments
  • Advanced experience with performing engineering calculations, and developing and implementing electrical lighting, power and special systems design without supervision
  • Expert experience with using and applying electrical codes and standards (NFPA, IESNA, CSA, and/or IEEE)
  • Advanced experience with using and applying applicable building codes
  • Advanced experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and providing support of field reporting
  • Proficient with advanced internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination
  • Proficient with advanced coordination with construction trade partners, vendors and manufacturers
  • Proficient at advanced electrical lighting, power and special systems design calculations without supervision
  • Advanced experience with troubleshooting issues with electrical and systems
  • Ability to travel for client development and project execution, and internal and external training opportunities
