Requirements
  • General knowledge of the construction industry and the roof truss design process.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints.
  • Ability to calculate tributary loads, concentrated loads, and load transfer through a building.
  • Ability to operate a computer and the current software used by the company.
  • Knowledge of current local codes associated with truss design.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to deal courteously with customers, co-workers, and construction personnel.
  • Good mathematics skills, including architectural units, fractions, geometry, and basic trigonometry.
  • Computer skills using word processing, design, internet, and database software.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and present information effectively one-on-one.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram-based instructions and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Responsibilities
  • Read architectural prints to create roof truss placement layouts.
  • Design roof trusses in engineering software, ensuring designs are accurate, optimized, and conform to current policies and procedures.
  • Provide customer support when necessary.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with MiTek software.
