Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience designing cable harnesses in aerospace, space, or defence environments.
  • Deep experience in high-power, low-power, and mixed-signal harness design, with a focus on robustness and signal integrity.
  • Experience owning detailed design decisions, including part selection, connector choice, and full bill of materials definition.
  • Experience producing manufacturing-ready documentation.
  • Understanding of how electrical design choices affect build, integration, and test.
  • Ability to balance engineering rigour with startup speed and make sound decisions with incomplete data.
Responsibilities
  • Establish and own the Electrical Wiring Interconnection System capability, defining architectures, design rules, and integration practices from first principles.
  • Design and route high-reliability power and signal harnessing across flight and ground systems operating in extreme thermal, vibration, and electromagnetic interference environments.
  • Own harness architecture, connector strategy, shielding, grounding, and separation philosophy to ensure signal integrity and system robustness.
  • Work hands-on with hardware from early prototypes through flight articles, supporting build, integration, troubleshooting, and rework.
  • Partner with avionics, propulsion, structures, and test teams to ensure electrical systems are flight-ready, manufacturable, and rapidly iterated.
  • Define and evolve EWIS documentation, schematics, and configuration control in a fast-moving development environment.
  • Use test, integration, and flight feedback to improve designs and eliminate single-point failures.

Munich's Hypersonica raises €23.3M Series A, tests hypersonic missile at Mach 6

Munich-based hypersonic systems startup Hypersonica has emerged from stealth with a €23.3 million Series A funding round led by Plural and a successful test launch. Founded in December 2023, the company is developing Europe's first privately funded hypersonic strike capability. On 3 February, Hypersonica launched a missile prototype from Andøya Space in Norway, reaching speeds exceeding Mach 6 and a range over 300 kilometres. The company completed the vehicle's development in just nine months. The Series A round included participation from Germany's Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation, General Catalyst and 201 Ventures. Hypersonica aims to deliver an initial short-range hypersonic strike capability by 2027 and fully operational hypersonic glide vehicles by 2029, targeting NATO member states' defence requirements.
