Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identifies, builds, cultivates, and maintains strong partnership in the Bank’s LMI communities to meet the Bank’s CRA/community development strategy and goals, including relationships with key community influencers, advocates, policy and civic organizations, local and statewide governments, and other nonprofits that serve the needs of the community
- Drives community mortgage lending, community development lending and investment opportunities within the bank’s community
- Advises clients about the risks, consequences, and benefits of various lending solutions
- Structure loans within policy
- Works with the CRA Officer and key leaders within the Bank to develop and execute strategic plans to ensure the success of the Bank’s Community Development and Lending Programs
- Works with the CRA Officer to conduct and interpret community needs assessment analysis within community, which includes direct feedback from community, research of economic market considerations, community conditions, other comparative financial institutions, available government programs and subsidies, impact opportunities, and an understanding of the context within the community and the Bank
Increases Bank’s community engagement by serving on boards and committees of nonprofit organizations serving LMI communities within the Bank’s assessment area as well as identifying and coordinating volunteer opportunities for Bank employees to participate in to meet established goals
- Serves as primary point of contact and relationship manager for place-based community development in the Dallas market to achieve CRA focused loan growth
- Maintains a positive working relationship with clients, staff, local professionals, centers of influence, and community organizations
- Obtain and analyze loan applications for loans for community mortgage lending and/or to support community/economic development projects. Collaborate with the Credit team to perform due diligence, site inspections, appraisal review, financial statement and pro-forma credit analysis, and credit evaluations of potential borrowers. Prepare credit memos with supporting documentation, and present loans for review or approval
- Develops and executes a focused plan to grow and sustain client relationships within the Dallas market for community development
- Prepares examination-ready self-assessments and performance context documentation
- Prepare all necessary reports to executive management and Board of Directors
- Serve as subject matter expert on project committees as appropriate
- Attend regular compliance-related webinars, seminars, and other training in order to stay abreast of regulatory changes
- Travels within the community regularly to meet with community partners
- Travels for larger community outreach related events when needed (typically 2-3 times a year)
- Adheres to all company related policies and procedures
- Other administrative duties as assigned by management
Position Requirements:
- 3-5 years relevant work experience in commercial lending, community development lending, mortgage lending, with a preference for existing experience within service area
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to make one-on-one and group presentations
- Minimum 3 years of experience with developing programs, policies, and procedures
- Analytical skills to assess borrower creditworthiness
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Ability to maintain extreme confidentiality when dealing with client matters
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Other Essential Candidate Traits:
- Experience using Windows based software, including Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn new technology. Strength in Excel a plus
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; initiative; and ability to make decisions within guidelines
- Attention to detail must be a strength
- Excellent community relations skills
- NMLS license a plus
- Purpose-driven, self-starter with initiative and strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated understanding of CRA, Fair Lending, and other banking compliance regulations
- Strong analytical skills, with an ability to simplify data into concise, actionable reporting
- Ability to represent bank at various community functions during the workday, after hours, and occasionally on weekends
- Must consent to and have favorable credit report, background check and drug/alcohol test
