Requirements
  • 10+ years' experience in electrical design for Themed Entertainment projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of NEC and building codes.
  • Experience in using SKM Power Tools or similar software for engineering calculations (Fault Current Studies, Coordination Studies, Arc Fault Studies)
  • AutoCAD and REVIT MEP proficient (REVIT Experience is required)
  • BS Architectural Engineering, or BS Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree.
  • Registered P.E. is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for meeting firm’s engineering quality levels for discipline on assigned projects.
  • Meet with Owners and Clients and represent EXP in a professional manner.
  • Oversees development of design concepts by Designers and ensure proper application and execution.
  • Verifies designer’s work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
  • Mentors and encourages development of Designer level staff.
  • Responsible for applying firm’s risk management practices of project engineering.
  • Leads the discipline design to produce construction documents that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget while minimizing erroneous efforts.
  • Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering.
  • Encourages collaboration to seek the best solutions.
  • Front-end loads projects and apply best practices to set the proper direction of the project in SDs and DDs.
  • Manages work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
  • Writes studies and reports for Electrical systems on projects.
  • Executes complex electrical designs with conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination.
  • Expert in specific Electrical requirements for applications within the Themed Entertainment Sector.
  • Evaluates Value Engineering (cost cutting) items with respect to our level of risk.
  • Edits and develops basis of design narratives documenting project scope.
  • Meet with contractors during bid phase to review the design details.
  • Prepare one-line diagrams.
  • Maintain the discipline Engineering documents for the project.
  • Respond to RFI’s for the project, and accurately review submittals.
  • Solve installation problems with electrical systems, travel to the site to resolve issues.
  • Revit/CAD proficient with creating drawings.
  • Prepare floor plans showing electrical device layouts, circuitry, fixtures, equipment, etc.
  • Perform calculations for available fault current study; implement proper AIC ratings of equipment, coordination studies, and arc flash analysis.
  • Prepare calculations for electrical loads and panel schedules.
  • Thorough knowledge of NEC and other codes.
  • Understand and correctly apply concepts of emergency and normal power systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of lighting, photometric, and lighting controls.
  • Understand and apply concepts of voltage drop, conductor sizing, harmonics, etc.
  • Edit electrical specifications.
  • Layout fire alarm devices on floor plans.
  • Develop equipment room sizes during Schematic Design and Design Development phases.
  • Select and schedule equipment.
  • Meet with vendors to determine specification requirements for application.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (MEP/FP, arch, struct, etc) for all electrical & lighting details.
  • Manage and deliver revisions (ASI’s, etc).
  • Understands circuit breaker coordination and application.
  • Understands specific Electrical requirements for applications within this Market Sector.
  • Understands and properly applies details relevant to projects.
  • Travel to site to meet with Owners and Contractors to perform field investigations, observation reports, and final testing as required.
  • Distribute project related correspondence to project team members.
  • Prepare project meeting minutes.
  • Schedule in-house discipline meetings.
  • Oversee deliverables to and from clients.
  • Oversee and encourage coordination between disciplines.
  • Provide discipline specific manpower planning for projects.
  • Provide continuous support for the Project Manager.
