Requirements
  • Requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Statistics, Finance, Economics, Operations Research or related field and 8 years of experience as a Risk Manager, Credit Portfolio Group Manager, Credit Risk Director, Cards Risk Manager, or related position involving retail credit management of consumer products for a global financial services institution.
  • Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in the stated fields and 10 years of the specified progressive, post-baccalaureate experience.
  • Full term of experience must include: Knowledge of retail lending portfolio management practices including acquisition management, account maintenance management, collection management, and loss mitigation management; Base and stress loss forecasting for retail lending exposures, including international experience; Interpreting and applying US GAAP accounting standards for Current Expected Credit Loss and IFRS 9; Utilizing CECL, loss forecasting models, and risk management practices within a financial institution; Process automation and system enhancement to improve risk control environments; and Working with international markets and US regulatory and accounting requirements for CCAR/DFAST, CECL, and retail risk management.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee cost of credit forecasting, including reserves and loss forecast planning and stress testing, for select geographies and businesses.
  • Review and challenge loss forecast methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with and recommend changes to policies, procedures, and frameworks.
  • Analyze outcomes and review and challenge results.
  • Partner with Finance Planning and Analysis teams as required to support management communication activities of changes to methodologies or of results.
  • Oversee the Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) process and outcomes for select geographies and businesses.
  • Review and challenge results, including overlays and qualitative adjustments.
  • Ensure appropriate analytics are performed to understand the drivers for changes in the reserves and loss forecasts.
  • Ensure that appropriate consideration is given to potential outcomes given the economic and regulatory environments.
  • Ensure compliance with CECL Methodology and Procedures requirements and Retail Credit Risk Policy.
  • Review controls in the underlying processes and ensure appropriate controls are in place, including for End User Computing Tools and automated system applications.
  • Review and challenge models used in the loss forecasting and CECL processes to ensure that models are appropriately constructed given local environments and businesses for assigned geographies, as well as in compliance with Model Risk Management Policy.
  • Participate in/present outcomes to the Independent Risk Oversight Committee and other governance committees and councils.
  • Review and approve review decks used for risk committees, CRO (Chief Risk Officer) reviews and regulatory reviews.
  • Oversee the quarterly loss forecasting and stress testing (CCAR/DFAST/) processes for select geographies including stress test outcomes and ad hoc exercises including rapid stress tests and climate stress testing.
  • Provide support and input to processes which leverage base and stress forecasting outcomes including risk appetite and capital limit setting processes.
