Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
  • A Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacist degree from a non-US-accredited school of pharmacy.
  • An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
  • A foreign graduate from a non-US-accredited college or school of pharmacy before beginning the training program.
  • Pharmacist licensure in the state where the position is based within 120 days of completing the required US intern hours.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • The ability to complete required training and obtain required licensure within established guidelines.
  • The ability to lift and exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, and a negligible amount regularly to move objects, including overhead lifting.
Responsibilities
  • Complete the required US internship hours within 18 months under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Deliver safe and effective retail pharmacy care covering patient safety, professional pharmacy practice, regulatory requirements, quality assurance, customer service, inventory management, and workflow management, excluding final prescription verification.
  • Adopt and manage patient care programs to support customer and patient health.
  • Support the pharmacy manager in motivating, inspiring, and developing pharmacy support staff by balancing assignments and addressing development opportunities and knowledge gaps.
  • Identify business opportunities and solutions to drive growth and improve pharmacy performance, and lead the team in achieving specified goals.
  • Adapt plans to a dynamic community healthcare setting and collaborate with others to deliver improved outcomes.
  • Facilitate a team culture that promotes caring, energy, enthusiasm, and pride.
  • Apply acquired knowledge to drive healthy outcomes and differentiate CVS from competitors.
  • Greet customers courteously and professionally in-store and at the drive-through window.
  • Assist pharmacy and front-store customers with questions and concerns.
  • Answer telephone calls with a warm and friendly greeting.
  • Request additional help and work with others to resolve issues and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Remove obstacles to make customer experiences easier when possible.
  • Perform approved cash, check, and charge register transactions and bag merchandise after sales.
  • Engage customers and create personalized experiences during visits.
  • Maintain customer and patient confidentiality according to HIPAA and company standards.
  • Communicate with customers and patients while protecting confidential drug information.
  • Comply with federal and state laws, rules, regulations, CVS policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Meet state and federal licensure requirements within the required timeframe.
  • Adhere to CVS workflow and maintain required standards.
  • Process prescriptions by translating SIG codes, selecting products, counting and measuring drugs, capping and uncapping vials and bottles, and labeling prescriptions.
  • Resolve third-party rejections and complete manual claim forms.
  • Perform prescription pickup procedures according to CVS policies and procedures.
  • Access, input, and retrieve necessary information using the workstation.
  • Maintain inventory levels and replenishment by following inventory management procedures and using appropriate reports.
  • Put away drug orders, except Schedule II controlled substances, as permitted by law.
  • Deliver additional healthcare services permitted by state regulation, individual certification, and pharmacy leadership direction, including point-of-care or swab-and-send testing and immunization preparation or delivery.
  • Support the supervising pharmacist with dispensing drugs, reviewing prescriptions, and monitoring compliance.
  • Offer counseling and direct customers to the pharmacist when necessary.
  • Address medical questions when appropriate.
  • Communicate with healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.
  • Solicit customers' medical histories when applicable to provide appropriate medical advice.
  • Practice and develop pharmacist duties according to law.
  • Communicate with field management and corporate teams as needed.
  • Participate in required store operational meetings.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional pharmacy department according to CVS standards.
  • Support scheduling activities based on business needs and the workflow model.
  • Coordinate and implement training and development for pharmacy support staff.
  • Recognize colleagues and celebrate success.
  • Complete all required training programs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three to five years of prior relevant work experience.
  • Eligibility to immunize.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Immunization administration once state regulations are met.

Nine major PBMs to display TrumpRx prescription drug prices from 2027

Nine pharmacy benefit managers will integrate TrumpRx prescription drug pricing into their benefit tools, effective 1 January 2027. The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association and participating PBMs—including CVS Health, Express Scripts, Humana, and OptumRx—will display cash prices from TrumpRx alongside plan coverage costs. The agreement covers commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid plans. Patients will see TrumpRx prices for all listed drugs, whether through presidential deals or standard pricing. CMS Administrator Dr Mehmet Oz said the commitment will help patients compare prices and find better deals. PCMA CEO David Marin stated the transparency will allow consumers to make better-informed choices about prescription drug costs. Some PBMs will use Real Time Benefit Tools to display pricing comparisons, whilst others may employ different methods.

AbbVie acquires Apogee Therapeutics for $10.9B amid pipeline expansion

AbbVie has announced a $10.9 billion acquisition of Apogee Therapeutics in June 2026, aiming to strengthen its drug pipeline.
