  • Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests.
  • Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a state security guard license.
  • Read, write, speak fluent English.
  • Proficient at observation, memory of events, and ability to recall events to document in written reports.
  • Capable of following, interpreting, and understanding written and verbal orders, policies and regulations, printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and can compose written and oral reports.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment: courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain poise and self-control during potential emergencies and unexpected situations that may involve mental and physical stress such as disturbances, altercations, fires, and building evacuations.
  • Maintain a professional personal appearance, calm demeanor, and discretion with confidential information.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity, accountability and adhere to the American Correctional Association and DHS ICE Performance Based National Detention Standards.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work with a diverse population of people, including people of different cultures, with different values and lifestyles, with a cross-cultural perspective.
Responsibilities
  • Performs duties as an unarmed male detention officer primarily in male housing units, including the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, and escort of male detainees as required by contract.
  • Exercises surveillance and control over primarily male detainees, maintaining order and discipline.
  • Provides care, custody, and control of primarily male detainees, including attending to housing, feeding, lavatories, and physical well-being, 24 hours a day.
  • Conducts security and sanitation checks of assigned areas before and during shifts.
  • Inventories and inspects all authorized equipment, ensuring items are in proper working condition, including verifying that the communication radio is functional and fully charged.
  • Makes official, accurate, and legible entries in assigned post logbooks.
  • Removes detainees from holding areas using proper restraints and security protocols.
  • Supervises detainees during deportation or exclusion hearings, medical appointments, transportation, and other assigned duties.
  • Reports for duty on time, in full issued uniform, and compliant with the dress code.
  • Follows all company safety policies, including incident reporting, monitoring, and adherence to safety practices.
  • Successfully completes all required training, including defensive tactics and physically demanding coursework.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Enforces rules and regulations of the detention facility.
