Requirements
  • ADN, Diploma, BSN or higher degree
  • Specialty Certification in applicable discipline
  • Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Registered Professional Nurses, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a registered professional nurse OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher with 3 years of experience OR ADN/Diploma with 5 years of experience
Responsibilities
  • Leads the design and development of interprofessional processes for plan of care
  • Provides Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Care to patients and caregivers
  • Defines expected outcomes that incorporate cost, clinical effectiveness, and are aligned with the outcomes identified by members of the interprofessional team
  • Identifies communication strategies among individuals, family, community and social systems on health and illness
  • Provides leadership for establishing, improving, and sustaining collaborative relationships to achieve safe quality care for healthcare consumers
  • Provides interdepartmental guidance regarding strategies to enhance care provided to patient population
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team in modifying care delivery, creating an environment conducive to improved care experience
  • Participates in developing new processes within the organization
  • Partners with other members of health system to assist with system quality improvements
  • Utilizes data and information in system-level decision-making
  • Assists with organizational policy within practice setting
  • Assists with improved information infrastructure
  • Demonstrates leadership skills that emphasize ethical and critical decision-making, effective working relationships, and a systems perspective
  • Formulates culturally sensitive expected outcomes derived from assessments and diagnoses
  • Develops recruitment and retention strategies to achieve a multicultural workforce
  • Evaluates tools, instruments, and services provided to culturally diverse populations
  • Identifies strategies for communication with peers/mentors to provide support in times of difficult cultural situations
  • Identifies barriers that may prevent cultural care & resolution to difficult situations
  • Promotes wellbeing within the interprofessional team
  • Mentors team members to lead change to advance health
  • Participates in continuing professional development by identifying learning opportunities
  • Required competencies to include demonstration of regularly being a charge nurse and/or precepting new staff or nursing students
  • Required competencies to include demonstration of participation in QI and/or shared governance at the unit level
