Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mental Health or a related field is required.
  • Three years of experience are required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • The role requires frequent reaching, sitting, standing, walking, visual and auditory communication, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • The role requires occasional bending, stooping, climbing, twisting, gripping, lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 pounds, color identification, and driving.
  • The role requires rare repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements and squatting.
Responsibilities
  • Assess data to determine medical necessity and appropriateness of the level of care or admission based on approved criteria.
  • Complete insurance verification and authorizations for the specific patient population from preadmission through discharge.
  • Manage patient benefits by checking insurance eligibility to optimize payment for services rendered through alternative cost-effective levels of care.
  • Notify physicians, the business office, and patients or families of insurance denials.
  • Attend weekly treatment team meetings with physicians, therapists, and nursing staff to discuss treatment options, benefits, insurance authorizations, and discharge planning.
  • Collect, record, and maintain clinical information gathered from concurrent or retrospective review and assess it against medical necessity criteria.
  • Conduct concurrent or retrospective reviews of admission appropriateness and continued stay.
  • Work effectively with internal and external customers and proactively improve case management processes.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
