Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a directly related field of study is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in software development is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience establishing technical standards, defining architectural guidelines, and embedding engineering best practices to enhance code quality and system resilience is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience mentoring engineers across multiple technical domains, including system architecture, performance optimization, and site reliability is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in technical leadership roles, driving cross-functional initiatives and technical direction without formal authority is required.
  • Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the employer’s Irving, Texas office.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems by analyzing business requirements, selecting appropriate technologies, and architecting solutions that meet immediate needs and long-term goals.
  • Ensure architectural decisions align with business objectives while balancing maintainability, performance, security, and scalability.
  • Establish and enforce engineering best practices, including rigorous code reviews, automated testing frameworks, and continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
  • Implement standardized development processes to improve code quality, reduce defects, and increase development efficiency.
  • Evaluate emerging tools and methodologies to enhance engineering workflows and ensure industry-leading development standards.
  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers through hands-on technical guidance, structured training programs, and feedback sessions.
  • Provide insights on complex problem-solving techniques, software design patterns, and coding best practices to accelerate the growth of less-experienced engineers.
  • Foster a culture of learning by organizing technical workshops, peer programming sessions, and documentation initiatives.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical challenges by diagnosing multi-system issues through in-depth performance analysis, debugging, and review of logs and telemetry data.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts and implement strategic solutions that resolve immediate problems and prevent future occurrences.
  • Work with site reliability engineers and DevOps teams to improve system stability, enhance observability, and optimize incident response procedures.
  • Drive artificial intelligence adoption by identifying opportunities to integrate automation, machine learning models, and AI-powered tools into engineering workflows.
  • Research AI-driven solutions that improve software development efficiency, including intelligent code suggestions, predictive maintenance algorithms, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Provide technical leadership in exploring AI-driven optimizations for business processes while ensuring responsible AI implementation and adherence to ethical guidelines.
  • Work with Product Owners, Engineering Leadership, Architects, and other stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Define long-term technical roadmaps, break down complex projects into actionable deliverables, and ensure dependencies across teams are well managed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide strategic input on feature feasibility, impact assessment, and prioritization.
  • Ensure application security, reliability, and scalability by proactively identifying vulnerabilities, assessing risks, and implementing security best practices such as encryption, authentication, and access control mechanisms.
  • Work on infrastructure improvements, security enhancements, and system optimizations to mitigate risks, reduce technical debt, and maintain compliance with industry regulations.
  • Contribute to incident response planning, disaster recovery strategies, and capacity planning efforts to ensure system resilience.
  • Foster continuous learning by encouraging experimentation, technical deep dives, and engagement with industry trends.
  • Promote engineering excellence through internal knowledge-sharing sessions, technical blogs, and mentorship programs.
  • Facilitate retrospectives and postmortems to identify lessons learned and improve future development cycles.
  • Help teams embrace innovation and drive technological advancements.
  • Assess project risks by evaluating technical dependencies, identifying potential bottlenecks, and analyzing trade-offs between speed and quality.
  • Develop contingency plans, recommend alternative approaches, and mitigate technical debt accumulation through proactive risk management.
  • Ensure projects remain aligned with business priorities by collaborating with product management teams to balance short-term deliverables with long-term strategic goals.
  • Identify inefficiencies and optimize system performance by implementing automation tools and processes to improve developer productivity, reduce manual tasks, and enhance system efficiency.
  • Leverage performance profiling tools, monitor system metrics, and refine database queries to eliminate bottlenecks and improve application responsiveness.
  • Introduce infrastructure-as-code practices and cloud-native solutions to streamline deployments and increase operational agility.
