Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain an active, externally funded research program in outdoor recreation, tourism, or related fields; publish in high-impact outlets; contribute to interdisciplinary scholarship within the Haub School, the university, and the region
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management
  • Participate in the Haub School’s online and in-person Master of Science in Environment, Natural Resources, and Society programs through mentoring graduate students and leading research and scholarship activities
  • Serve the School, the University, and the state of Wyoming, and engage with stakeholders within Wyoming’s outdoor recreation and tourism industry
  • May work closely with the Jay Kemmerer Wyoming Outdoor Recreation Tourism and Hospitality Institute as an affiliated faculty member
  • Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary and applied teaching and research; strong communication and relationship-building skills; ability to contribute to the Haub School’s mission and vision
  • Preferred candidates will have academic experience in the outdoor recreation field through past teaching, participation in interdisciplinary programs, and/or experience working with stakeholders from different backgrounds including those from rural or urban communities with fewer financial and political resources
Desired Qualifications
  • Track record of obtaining extramural grants to support research, outreach, and/or educational efforts
  • Track record of publishing scholarship in relevant peer-reviewed journals or other outlets appropriate to the candidate's field
  • Experience developing and/or teaching in-person courses, applied experience courses, and/or online courses
  • Knowledge and expertise in outdoor recreation and tourism management trends and policy issues relevant to the American West, including public land management, rural community dynamics, or regional economic development
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with industry partners, agencies, tribal nations, or community organizations in research or experiential learning
