Requirements

  • Rigger - Level 1 - National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators

  • Signalperson - National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators
  • Valid and unrestricted Arizona CDL - Class A with Tanker endorsement - Arizona Department of Transportation - Motor Vehicle Division
  • Water Distribution Grade 1 Certification - Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ)
Responsibilities
  • Plans and schedules workloads by guiding and overseeing the construction, inspection, repair and maintenance of wells within city infrastructure to ensure that operations run efficiently.
  • Receives and inspects materials and equipment from vendors to ensure that quality standards and specifications are being met. Tracks all materials and equipment used in the field to maintain an accurate inventory. Reviews maintenance records and uses the data to prepare the proper materials and equipment for each job.
  • Prioritizes and delegates work among well mechanics to optimize well operations. Drives, operates, and transports heavy equipment such as large cranes, truck-mounted cranes (pump rig), trucks, and trailers to various locations across the city to perform well maintenance, installation, and repairs. Reviews and assesses the daily work of Well Maintenance Mechanics for quality assurance.
  • Reads, enters, and interprets data in the Enterprise Asset Management System, Geographical Information System (GIS), and other systems and databases to ensure that all mapped and non-mapped asset locations are up to date. Tracks work orders in the Enterprise Asset Management System and reviews data regarding equipment status for work performed, labor, and materials.
  • Communicates with internal customers via email, phone, or text regarding production water well shut-off times and expectations. Researches and responds to customer inquiries to resolve issues.
  • Assists other Tucson Water divisions and external stakeholders during emergency operations, such as hauling water to isolated systems when an outage occurs to ensure that water remains available to stakeholders.
  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
