Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience in construction and/or facilities management, with demonstrated understanding of healthcare or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with federal government contracting, preferably in a prime contract construction management environment.
  • Strong administrative skills; experience managing timekeeping, expense reporting, federal training requirements, and project documentation.
  • Technical proficiency with facility management software, CAD tools, and IWMS platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; adept at resolving field and corporate issues efficiently.
  • Willingness and ability to travel monthly.
Responsibilities
  • Field CM Support: Serve as the primary conduit between field Construction Managers and SteerBridge corporate functions (finance, HR, supply, recruiting). Understand field project challenges, proactively support CM needs, and advocate for timely resolution of issues.
  • Federal Contract Delivery: Collaborate with leadership and corporate staff to ensure field compliance with federal contract terms, project schedules, safety, cost controls, and documentation. Manage contract administration duties, including compliance, modification, and reporting needs.
  • Site Engineering and Technology Deployment: Serve as a field engineer conducting site verifications and field surveys necessary for VA project requirements. Provide technical support for space management initiatives, as well as CAD/CAFM system maintenance and data gathering. Support Integrated Work Management System (IWMS) deployment through on-site facility verification activities, asset data collection, and close integration with SteerBridge’s technology partners.
  • Project Administration: Oversee all field and administrative tasks, ensuring timely completion of timesheets, travel vouchers, federal training requirements, status reports, expense reconciliations, and document filing. Develop systems and templates to simplify and standardize workflows, enabling CMs to focus on project execution.
  • Travel and Site Engagement: Travel monthly to VA medical centers and construction project sites nationwide. Conduct field support visits, engage directly with project teams and customers, perform on-site technical verifications, and report back on progress, risks, and needs.
  • Team Development: Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of field staff, including best practice sharing and lessons learned.
  • Onsite Leadership: When not traveling, work from the SteerBridge Tysons, VA office; attend corporate meetings, interface with support teams, and lead on-site coordination efforts as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in performing on-site space verifications, CAD/CAFM data gathering, and IWMS deployments for complex facilities is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, facilities management, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working on Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, or other federal health agency projects is highly desirable.
  • Ability to foster teamwork, mentorship, and a positive culture among geographically dispersed project teams.
  • Familiarity with VA construction project requirements, CAD/CAFM, IWMS, and VISN structures.
  • Proficiency with project management, facility asset management, and federal reporting tools.
