Requirements
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience with IT solutions, including exposure to mainframe infrastructure environments, mainframe operating systems, databases, storage, and security.
  • Familiarity with IBM mainframe hardware, central processing units, tapes, and Hitachi disk.
  • Experience with mainframe software lifecycle management for IBM and other independent software vendor products.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery, including GDPS and Sysplex, and high-availability design.
  • Understanding of mainframe modernization, application programming interface enablement, and integration patterns, including IBM z/OS Connect, MQ, and CICS.
  • Exposure to security frameworks such as RACF and SOX audit support.
  • Ability to contribute to the design and architecture of highly available mainframe solutions using IBM products.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide mainframe-to-cloud modernization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and scripting languages, including REXX and CLIST, and awareness of modernization tools such as z/OSMF, Zowe, and Ansible.
  • Experience assisting in the implementation of technology solutions that enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
  • Ability to support technology strategies and contribute to day-to-day operations in alignment with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the overall delivery and support process across multiple initiatives to ensure a sustainable mainframe operations practice for IBM z/OS infrastructure, mainframe security, performance tuning, and systems integration with strategic mainframe system architectures.
  • Lead strategic mainframe projects, including system optimization, infrastructure modernization, and proactive incident prevention.
  • Develop, communicate, and execute comprehensive technical mainframe roadmaps aligned with business goals and technology trends.
  • Drive software rationalization and hardware consolidation for best-practice optimization.
  • Evaluate hardware and software stacks and recommend emerging technologies and tools to improve mainframe system availability.
  • Define architectural principles, best practices, and governance frameworks for mainframe environments.
  • Manage mainframe security frameworks, compliance, and disaster recovery strategies for mission-critical workloads.
  • Recommend and implement modern tools and practices, including z/OSMF and Zowe, to automate and optimize mainframe operations.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, and engineers to define IT infrastructure requirements and ensure seamless integration.
  • Develop migration strategies to move current systems to modern environments, including data migration.
  • Automate tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Support modernization initiatives in partnership with application and functional teams.
  • Conduct proofs of concept and present complex technical solutions to senior leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement for operational resilience, disaster recovery, and business continuity using measurable key performance indicators.
  • Oversee mainframe managed services operations and ensure adherence to service-level agreements.
  • Address complex technical and operational challenges with strategic vision and tactical execution.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, service metrics, and operational risks to senior leadership.
