Requirements
  • Microsoft Office knowledge and computer skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients, their representatives, managers, physicians, clinic staff, outside agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to document patient vital signs and medical information in a timely manner.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience working in an outpatient setting.
  • A Basic Life Support credential from the American Heart Association obtained within three months of the hire date or job transfer date.
Responsibilities
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record patient information in charts.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
  • Assist with physician-ordered treatments under the supervision of a physician or nurse.
  • Perform selected clinical duties.
  • Perform basic clerical duties, including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
  • Order and stock supplies.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • Provide patient instruction and education as directed by a physician or nurse, or refer patients when appropriate.
  • Perform phlebotomy and injections under nurse supervision.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Cerner.
  • Experience with Athena.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or an Associate degree in Medical Sciences with an emphasis in Anatomy.
  • Certified Medical Assistant credential.
  • Phlebotomy competency certification.
