Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with individuals with behavioral health diagnoses in a community support setting is required.
  • A valid driver's license, registration, current inspection, and insured automobile are required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of individuals with mental health issues, their families, and family systems is required.
  • Ability to provide leadership and supervision is required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Excel and interpreting reports, is required.
  • Experience with treatment modalities, including evidence-based therapies and standardized tools such as PHQ-9 and C-SSRS, is required.
  • Skill in crisis assessment, risk management, and de-escalation is required.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and a calm demeanor during emergencies is required.
  • Knowledge of community resources is required.
  • Proficiency in documentation and electronic record-keeping systems, including electronic medical records, is required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with community partners and in a team environment is required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Manager with daily operations, workflow management, and departmental support.
  • Help with staff scheduling, productivity oversight, and administrative coordination.
  • Assist with morning and clinical meetings and facilitate them in the Manager's absence.
  • Monitor caseloads, documentation quality, service-delivery standards, and staff productivity.
  • Support onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training of new and existing staff.
  • Provide supervision of team members as directed by leadership.
  • Support staff with crisis intervention, risk assessments, and service coordination.
  • Complete or support client intakes, assessments, and person-centered treatment planning.
  • Deliver or support recovery-oriented clinical services and daily living skills assistance.
  • Troubleshoot client and staff concerns and provide follow-up as needed.
  • Support staff hiring, onboarding, training, development, and performance evaluations.
  • Address performance issues, coach team members, and promote a collaborative professional team culture.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources partners on disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Conduct or participate in community outreach visits, home visits, and client accompaniment to appointments.
  • Transport clients safely according to agency policies when needed.
  • Coordinate services internally and with external providers and advocate for client needs across systems.
  • Assist clients with benefits acquisition, housing needs, budgeting, and other essential supports.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including notes and plans of care, while following confidentiality and safety protocols.
  • Participate in audits, record reviews, and quality-improvement activities.
  • Complete required reports, approve timesheets in the Manager's absence, and support billing and productivity oversight.
  • Collaborate with team members, leadership, and community partners and communicate updates as needed.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings and participate in committees as requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in program management related to assertive community treatment or similar teams is preferred.
  • Rhode Island licensure such as LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMHC-A, LMFT, LMFT-A, or LCDP is preferred.

Care New England cuts 30+ leadership jobs to close $20M budget gap

Care New England is cutting more than 30 leadership and non-clinical positions to address a projected $20 million budget deficit for fiscal year 2026. The announcement comes as hospitals nationwide face financial pressures from federal Medicaid funding changes and policy overhauls. CEO Dr Michael Wagner cited uncompetitive state reimbursement rates compared with neighbouring states as factors hindering staff recruitment and retention. The health system, Rhode Island's second-largest hospital operator, employs over 8,000 people across Butler, Kent and Women & Infants hospitals. Care New England has faced ongoing financial challenges, exacerbated during the pandemic. A proposed 2022 merger with competitor Lifespan was blocked by regulators on anti-trust grounds. The company spent more than $10.8 million on executive compensation in fiscal 2024.
